At Current Electrical Contractors, we offer various different lighting services, including recessed lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and eco-friendly lighting for residents and businesses in Northbrook. Regardless if your project is big or small, rely on our team to guide you every step of the way.
Recessed Lighting
Recessed lighting is a simple, effective way to light a room. This process takes the least amount of installation time and saves space. It can be installed directly into your wall, ceiling or other surface. It is a great way to light up a room without taking away from the room’s décor.
The components of recessed lighting include:
- Housing: This is the bulk of the lighting fixture that has the electrical connections needed for the unit to function.
- Trim: The trim is the decorative part that is visible in the space.
- Bulb: The bulb produces light. It can be a common incandescent bulb or an LED light.
Under-Cabinet Lighting
This can serve as an effective upgrade to most kitchens. Similar to recessed lighting, under-cabinet lightening effectively illuminates the room without impeding on the kitchens style or taking up much room.
There are 3 types of LED strips available for under cabinet lighting:
- Enclosed LED Fixtures: A light fixture that looks very similar to traditional fluorescent or halogen fixtures and can be easily replaced. Juno makes a product that is the exact same size as the halogen fixtures that they sold for years and those can easily be switched out.
- LED Strip Lights: LED strip lights are an extrusion with a cover that are much sleeker but a little more work to install. The strip lights can only be an inch or less in depth and width with an LED tape installed in them. Unfortunately, the “driver”, the device that transforms the 120-volt power to 24 volts, needs to be located somewhere. The high and low voltage wires need to be installed and terminated. This is simple enough in a new construction situation but makes a remodel more problematic.
- LED Puck Lights: These fixtures can easily replace an existing halogen puck light. Generally, old wiring can be used, and you just have to replace the old light.
Eco-Friendly Lighting
There are many different eco-friendly lighting options that can effectively illuminate your home, while also helping the environment. There are several LED options:
- LED Equivalent Light Bulbs
- LED Retrofit Recessed Can Trims
- LED Strip Lighting
- LED Puck Lights
- LED Under-Cabinet Lighting
